Nelson Mandela (8th December, 2013) ☹ †

South Africans and people from all over the world are mourning the death of Nelson Mandela. In South Africa, thousands of people gathered in Johannesburg and Soweto to say goodbye to their country's first ever black president. They danced, sang, cried and prayed for the man they loved. Mr Mandela died aged 95 on Thursday after months of illness. South Africa's President Jacob Zuma broke the news of Mr Mandela's death in a late-night speech on TV. Mr Zuma said: "Our nation has lost its greatest son." Mr Mandela spent most of his life campaigning for equal rights in South Africa. He spent 27 years in jail before becoming South Africa's president in 1994.Leaders from all over the world heaped praise on Mr Mandela. His long-time friend Archbishop Desmond Tutu said: "God was so good to us in South Africa by giving us Nelson Mandela." US President Barack Obama said: "He achieved more than could be expected of any man. Today, he has gone home." UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called him "a giant for justice and a down-to-earth human inspiration". He added: "Nelson Mandela showed what is possible for our world and within each one of us if we believe, dream and work together for justice and humanity." British Prime Minister David Cameron tweeted: "Nelson Mandela was a hero of our time. A great light has gone out in the world."

A school trip - The Beatles -☺✌

Hi Liam,
Yesterday I went to a school trip in Caserta to see a musical of The Beatles, my English teacher (Ms. Esterina La Torre) organised it. In this event with us came, the 2lb, the 2c, the 2b and the 2e. We left Mondragone at 9:15 by bus and we arrived in Caserta at 10:15 while we were wating for the opening of the theatre we ate a sandwich. At 11:20 we went inside the theatre and we saw a musical, the story of The Beatles, at 12:30 we finished to saw the musical and some people asked the actors some questions: 'How old are you?', 'wgere are you from?' or 'What's your favorite song of The Beatles?' and they answered they were 21,23,25,22 and 27, they were from Galles,Liverpool, Manchester, Ireland and London and their favorite song of The Beatles was 'please, please me', 'Let it be' and 'Yellow submarine'. They were really good! I liked it so much.. ◕‿◕

Graffiti and... BANKSY! :D

Graffiti are  drawings on the walls, there are different types like: funny, dirty, terrible, colorful and original. Some people call this "artists" (who draw on the walls) "vandals". But there are people (like Banksy) who draw graffiti with a social messages! Of course there are a lot of graffiti without messages, dirty and stupid. I think the person who draw an original graffiti is really interesting, but the person who draws his name on the walls or paint on the walls of the church are vandals.
Banksy is an English 'artist'. He draws on the walls, he's very popular but we don't know who he is, because if the police know who is he, they arrest him, we only know: maybe he was born in 1974 in Bristol and when he was 14 he was already doing graffiti. Some of his graffiti have a social or political messages, they aren't dirty, vulgar or repetitive, they're colorful and original. But some person think 'he's a vandal' and other think 'he's very original'.

REMEMBRENCE DAY!

In 11 November there is: Remembrance Day marks the anniversary of the armistice which ended the First World War (1914–18). Each year Australians observe one minute silence at 11 am on 11 November, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts, this year is not only the 95th anniversary of the armistice on 11 November which ended the First World War, but also the 20th anniversary of the reinterment of the Unknown Australian Soldier in the Australian War Memorial’s Hall of Memory.The National Remembrance Day Ceremony includes a formal wreathlaying and will be attended by many high level dignitaries and diplomats. Australian’s Federation Guard and the Band of the Royal Military College will be on parade.The remembrance poppy has been used since 1920 to commemorate soldiers who have died in war. Inspired by the World War I poem "In Flanders Fields", they were first used by the American Legion to commemorate American soldiers who died in that war.

Halloween is also known as Nut-crack Night, Thump-the-door Night or Apple and Candle Night. Some people call Halloween Bob Apple Night or Duck Apple Night. This comes from a traditional game played at this time of year and known as 'apple bobbing' or 'apple ducking'. A bucket or other container is filled with water and one or more apples are floated on the water. The contestants take turns trying to catch an apple with their teeth. They must hold their hands behind their backs at all times.There are various symbols are associated with Halloween. The colors orange and black are very common. Other symbols include pumpkin lanterns, witches, wizards, ghosts, spirits and characters from horror films. Animals associated with the festival include bats, spiders and black cats.

THE ORIGIN OF MY NAME c:

The origin of my name is Greek and means: shining, splendor of the sun. The name Elena remembers the beautiful Elena which caused the Trojan war. The name Elena is widespred in Italy, in fact is at 15th place of the most common name. The 'Day name' is 18th august, the lucky number is 4 and the color is yellow.

One Direction!

One Direction are an Anglo-Irish boy band, they are: Liam, Louis, Zayn, Harry and Niall. Each of them  showed up to 'X-factor' like solist and all of them passed the first phase, then Simon Cowell united them creating the 'One Direction'. They won the X-factor with the third place. One month later the fan wanted a concert of One Direction and so it was. One Direction are famous because, they are funny, cute and their voices are really good! The One Direction are:

THE FARMER, THE SON AND THE DONKEY

A farmer walking with his son, they have a small donkey and in turn were brought on donkey to relieve fatigue but when the farmer was on the donkey and the son walked the people said: "Here a old father relieve fatigue and sickens the son!". So the farmer went down the donkey and made up the son. They walking and the people said: "Here! a lazy and healthy child on the donkey and his old and sick father walking." Now the farmer's son was ashamed, so now they were on the small donkey and they walked..- the people say "poor donkey on he, were a farmer and his son!" Now they went down by donkey and now the donkey is free.. So they walked and the people laugh because the donkey is free and they walking! But now the farmer said to the son: "See son, whatever you do, people always have something to say!"

My life!

I'm from Mondragone, this place is very beautiful because we have the sea, the mountain and the meeting places like "rotonda" and we have the castle, its name is "Rocca del Monte Petrino." This place is very, very beautiful because we have everything but some people spoil this place Mondragone.. I have lived in Mondragone since I was born, I lived in a small house, but now we have a new house, its has 3 floors  and 11 rooms and my bedroom is big and pink. In my house live: my dad, my mum, my 2 brothers and me. My dad's name is Rocco and he's 51 he works as a clerk in Enel, he is tall and not very slim, his hair is brown and his eyes too. My mum's name is MariaPaola and she's 41 she's a housewife, she's not very tall and slim, her hair is long and brown and her eyes are brown-green. My 2 brothers names are: Egidio and Gabriele. Egidio is 13 and he's not very tall and not very slim, he's a student. Gabriele is 5 and he's tall and slim, he's a student too. (:
